Impact of swimming

At Easton we have used some of the sports premium money to offer Years 2 and 3 the opportunity to have 6 weeks of swimming lessons in the Summer Term at Framlingham College. We felt it was important to offer these key skills as early as possible to enable the children to have confidence in a swimming pool and learn the basics of survival before they have regular swimming lessons in years 4, 5 and 6 during the Autumn and Spring Term.

This first year has been a huge success and the children have thrived on the opportunity to become confident in water, develop their swimming skills or simply to progress and perfect their swimming strokes and techniques.
Here are some quotes from the children:

"At the start of the swimming I was unsure if I could do it but I got there. I feel really confident now and can swim without a woggle." Elvis year 2

"At the start I felt really nervous because I didnt know how deep the pool was but I was lucky as I went in to the shallow end. Now I feel quite confident at swimming as we had a go in the deep end with a woggle. I liked having the swimming instructor in the swimming pool because I think they wanted to help us learn." Scarlett year 2

"At the start I felt really scared because I can't really swim that good and thought I would sink as soon as I got in the water, but I was given a woggle. I liked having the swimming instructor in the pool with me as she gave me confidence. Ive been swimming with my mum since the lessons and can now swim a bit with a woggle and feel happy!" Stanley year 3
