Music

What do we want Music to look like at our school?

Music is about creativity and inspiration; allowing children the ability to develop a love of music and give opportunities for them to find and share their talent as musicians; increasing self-confidence and a sense of achievement.
Our view of Music at Easton is to make music a skill based subject, allowing teachers and children to learn through a particular interest or cross-curricular link. This will be through performing, listening to, reviewing and evaluating different genres, styles and traditions of music, therefore children will have a better understanding of the great composers and musicians as well as current up to date music. We would like all children to have the opportunity to learn to sing and, to use their voices creatively when composing music with others and independently.
For key stage 2 children at Easton, we would like them to understand and explore how music is created, produced and communicated. This will include having a secure understanding of a range of vocabulary i.e. pitch, duration, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure and any other appropriate musical notation.
Our aim at Easton is inspire all our children through enrichment; musicians, singers and our own pupil talent, to perform on a regular basis.
