3D art work from year 1 inspired by Richard long and Andy Goldworthy

At Easton we believe that both Art and Design Technology are invaluable when providing children which a rich and layered curriculum.

Art and Design

Art and design encompasses a wide range of skills and responses to a variety of stimuli. At Easton we believe in exploring a wide range of elements such as Drawing, Painting, Textiles, Collage, 3D and Printing. Through these elements we aim to developing pupils’ creativity and independence whilst increasing their self-esteem and confidence, and invigorating their enthusiasm for learning. We aim to raise pupils’ achievements in art, craft and design, and subsequently allowing children to apply these creative skills and attitudes across the whole curriculum.

At Easton our art follows a clear procedure:
· Explore
· Evaluate
· Respond
· Plan
· ‘Do’
· Review

This may result in a clear series of lessons or may take the form of one lesson with small focused tasks which include these elements.
Children are given a purpose for their work and there are many opportunities for work to link to other subjects and wider topics.
